手工薄饼皮 Handmade Popiah Skin

A Legacy of Manual Precision

What sets Fortune Food apart is our refusal to mechanize. While factory-pressed wrappers are dense and doughy, our skins are produced through an intensive hand-rubbed process perfected by our founder in 1980. This method, based on a 1930s Master Formula, requires a high level of manual skill to maintain the dough’s natural gluten elasticity.

The Technical Specs: <0.5mm & High-Stretch

Don’t be fooled by the delicate, translucent appearance. While every skin is precision-thinned to less than 0.5mm, our founder's hand-rubbing technique creates a high-stretch durability.

• Superior "Yield": Thinner skins mean a better ratio of filling to wrap, providing a refined mouthfeel.
• Tear-Resistant: Engineered to contain moist, slow-cooked turnip and crispy garnishes without breaking, even during island-wide delivery.
• The "QQ" Texture: Our skins act as a resilient binding agent, providing the signature chewy texture that defines a world-class popiah.

How long can I keep fresh Popiah skins and DIY sets?

• Our handmade popiah skins are best consumed on the day of delivery/collection to enjoy their signature soft and chewy texture.
  * Popiah Skins: If not used immediately, keep them wrapped tightly in a plastic bag to prevent drying out. They can stay fresh at room temperature for up to 6 hours.
  * DIY Fillings: Once delivered, the turnip filling and condiments should be kept in the refrigerator if not consumed within 2 hours.
  * Storage Tip: We do not recommend freezing fresh skins as they may lose their elasticity and tear easily once thawed.

How can I keep any leftover popiah skin?

• Typically, our popiah skin is 'fresh' for just one day. Therefore, we ensure to freshly prepare the skins each morning and recommend that customers purchase them on the same day they plan to consume them. Popiah skins tend to dry out rapidly when stored for longer periods, and if used to wrap a popiah roll afterwards, they become brittle and prone to breakage.
However, it is worth noting that popiah skins can be preserved in the freezer and remain edible for up to one week. Since the skins lose their freshness after the initial day, it is recommended to utilize them for fried dishes like fried spring rolls, samosas, or deep-fried popiah (popiah goreng) instead.
